Join cultural anthropologist Hannah Gould and death doula Zenith Virago as they discuss the changes in the ways of dying that better reflect the life of the person, and everyone’s relationship with passing.

ABOUT THE SPEAKERS:
ZENITH VIRAGO – As a Deathwalker, a Celebrant and an educator Zenith is fortunate to be at the forefront of reclaiming dying, death, body care and ceremony back into our own hands and hearts for over 30 years. Zenith works with dying people and their families and friends, individuals and communities to help them achieve a more holistic and beneficial approach.
DR HANNAH GOULD is a cultural anthropologist specialising in contemporary death, religion and material culture in Australia and Asia. Hannah is a Lecturer in Buddhist Studies and Fellow with the DeathTech Research Team at the University of Melbourne. Alongside academic research and publishing, she creates public programs to advocate for more equitable systems of deathcare for all. To date, this has included work as a presenter with ABC Catalyst and as Academic Advisor and on-screen talent for the SBS documentary series Ray Martin: The Last Goodbye. She regularly appears on radio and writes for outlets such as The Conversation and ABC News. How to Die in the 21st Century is her first book.
ABOUT THE VENUE:
MARRICKVILLE PAVILION AND LIBRARY is accessible by lift from both the street and ground levels. The venue is accessible for people using wheelchairs and other mobility aids. There is a hearing loop available.
