Mary Hallock Foote’s work and life, much of which unfolded right here in Nevada County, inspired Stegner’s celebrated novel. Sands Hall will guide us through the controversy, exploring the ethical and literary implications of Stegner’s extensive use of Foote’s words and experiences.
