About this Event
With the Inner West Council’s naming part of Marrickville Road shopping precinct “Little Greece”, this presentation examines the phases of the Greek experience in Marrickville: early Greek settlement of pre and post World War II periods (1930- 1959), the Greek Golden Era (1960- 1985), a community in gradual demographical decline and the future of the Greek presence in Marrickville. The presentation will highlight the significant contribution and impact of Marrickville’s Greek community to multicultural Australia- justifying its recognition as “Little Greece”.
