About this Event
About the Event:
Join Professor Alfred Vincent to celebrate the 80th birthday of the composer, musician, poet and novelist Ömer Zülfü Livaneli, and in particular his many collaborations with Maria Farandouri and the late Mikis Theodorakis, two soaring figures of Greek music. Through their art all three have promoted the values of peace, freedom and international friendship. The event will include a short talk in English on Livaneli by Dr Burcu Çevik-Compiègne, readings of his poetry in the original and in translation, and a selection of his songs in Greek versions by Lefteris Papadopoulos, performed by Eleni Elefterias Kostakidis and Sotiris Prokopiou. This event is part of The Greek Festival of Sydney.
