About:
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service manages 63 Waterfowl Production Areas (WPAs) that make up the Rainwater Basin Wetland Management District (District) in south-central Nebraska. Dedicated District staff and partners play a critical role in supporting millions of migrating birds each spring by protecting, enhancing, and restoring the shallow playa wetlands scattered across the flat to gently rolling loess plains. These wetland and prairie landscapes provide essential food and shelter for waterfowl, shorebirds, water birds, raptors, and others including Greater White-fronted Geese, Northern Pintails, Buff-breasted Sandpipers, and endangered Whooping Cranes. Join us in exploring management activities and recreational opportunities on the District
