For those who need a refresher: in on December 5th, 1933, Prohibition ended with the repeal of the 18th Amendment, putting the “wet” back in America’s whistle. Prohibition had banned the production, sale, and transport of alcohol nationwide since 1920, aiming to curb alcohol consumption, but leading instead to a rise in illegal speakeasies, bootlegging, and organized crime. The repeal marked a significant shift in American law and society, restoring legal alcohol sales and signaling a move toward regulation rather than prohibition.
