Join us Sunday, March 8, from 3-5 PM in Wesley Hall for our next Speak-Easy Conversations in a Divided World at Edmond First United Methodist Church hosted by Love In Action and Church & Society. The Refugee Journey
Presented by The Spero Project
The Spero Project is a local non-profit organization that welcomes resettled refugees and connects these new neighbors to people, resources and learning opportunities that make Oklahoma City a place of belonging.
Their work has become more challenging in the past year. As of January 2025, the refugee resettlement process has been effectively dismantled and many legal pathways have been blocked. Advocates from the Spero Project will share current truths about immigration and resettlement along with the hope and resilience that these new neighbors continue to demonstrate. Oklahoma City (and the U.S.) must remain a place of welcome and belonging.
Whether you are ready for action steps you can take to advocate and protect our neighbor sojourners or you are simply curious about the process, you will encounter helpful information and perspectives.
