Bruntwood Works invites you to this free webinar event, giving you an insight into stepping out your comfort zone.
About this Event

Join our guest speaker Hylton James, to understand the importance of goal setting when facing a significant challenge. Listen to how he was able to set ambitious goals to achieve a wide range of personal achievements, including being the first African to walk to both poles- and how he now uses those same skills in business.

By the end of the session you should have a better understanding on:

  • Develop resilience, resulting in problem-solving solutions
  • Learn how to embrace and overcome challenges
  • Understand how to work well in a team.

A bit about Hylton:

Having grown up in South Africa, Hylton has always had a passion for outdoor sports, adventure, and exploration.

Since leaving South Africa to travel the world in 1994, he has visited 83 countries on all 7 continents, mainly backpacking, with extensive trips through South America, Central America, North America, Southeast Asia, Africa, and Europe.

Hylton has always been heavily involved in competitive sport, and have completed 171 full and ultra-marathons on 6 continents (including 27 “Comrades” 90 Km Ultra-marathons); 6 Iron Man Triathlons, numerous ultra-distance white-water canoe marathons, cycled 5 000 Km across Europe, and completed the UK “3 Peaks Challenge” twice, each within 24 hours. Finally, for good measure, He took part in a one-month jungle survival challenge in the Belize jungle.

He also spent three years in the Army as an Airborne Infantry Officer, and is a qualified Private Pilot and SCUBA diver.

Having grown up in a warm climate, one of his biggest challenges has always been the cold. It was for this reason that in 2005, he accepted a challenge way beyond his comfort zone to walk 350 Miles (600 Km) to the North Pole as part of the Polar Challenge race.

And as if this challenge wasn’t enough, in January 2009 he become the first-ever African to race-walk to both Poles, by placing fourth out of six teams in the inaugural eight-week 600 Mile (1 000 Km) cross-country skiing race to the South Pole, Antarctica.

During this session Hyltom will share his South Pole adventure stories as well as focus on overcoming adversity, facing challenges head-on, building resilience, and the lessons he gained in how to work as an effective mixed team.

This will be an interactive session where we encourage you to ask questions, and together we can learn to apply these skills to your everyday work / life.
