About this Event
Spanish Young Music Talents (SYMT) is the flagship music program of the Cultural Office of the Embassy of Spain in Washington, D.C., launched in 2022. Created to support and elevate the careers of emerging Spanish musicians, SYMT fosters artistic exchange and professional growth through collaborations with leading U.S. music schools, universities, and festivals.
More than just a performance opportunity, SYMT offers a comprehensive international experience. Participating musicians take part in a dynamic array of complementary activities—including masterclasses, lectures, workshops, and networking events—designed to expand their artistic vision and build meaningful professional connections.
All featured artists are under the age of 33 and winners of the prestigious national award from Juventudes Musicales de España, a distinction that recognizes outstanding young musical talent.
As part of her participation in the Spanish Young Music Talents program, Maria Florea will perform works from a varied period of classical music in an exclusive performance at the Spanish Cultural Center. Florea will also visit the Kreeger Museum in Washington D.C and participate in the Festival Casals de Puerto Rico.

About Guillem Serrano
Guillem Serrano is a percussionist dedicated to classical and contemporary music, working as a performer and teacher. From a very young age, he has enhanced his studies by attending numerous workshops and advanced courses, as well as receiving private lessons from some of the most important international percussionists of the current scene, both concert soloists and orchestral soloists. This has given Guillem an eclectic and well-rounded profile, enabling him to perform with ease both as a soloist and within a percussion section inside a professional orchestra.
He received his Bachelor’s degree in Alicante (Spain) with Joan Iborra and obtained later his Master’s in Musical Performance with Christian Dierstein in Basel (Switzerland). He has been a professor at the Conservatorio Superior de Música de Murcia and a guest professor at the Centro Superior Katarina Gurska, in addition to giving various master classes and private lessons.
He has participated in several festivals across Spain and Europe, and has worked with a wide range of conductors, ensembles, and chamber groups, as well as theater companies, operas, and other stage settings. He has received multiple awards, including the “Juventudes Musicales de España” (Madrid, 2017), “Nicati” (Bern, 2019), and “Percute” (Valencia, 2022), and was selected in 2020 to participate in the prestigious “TROMP” competition.
He currently combines his career as a soloist together with collaborations with various professional orchestras and his work as a teacher, in addition to pursuing the Master’s Degree in Musical Research at Valencia International University.
