“It came from out of the sky….”
SPACEJUNK is full tilt controlled chaos rolled up in tight proto metal riffs with dual vocals and guitars aimed at the stars while a blizzard of beats batters a drumkit. A relentless rock’n’roll mutation with sonic allegiance to Iggy, Ozzy, Angus and Lemmy - the band play to 20 people like they’re playing to 200 – “shouldn’t you guys be in a stadium somewhere?”
Formed in Melbourne in 2013 SPACEJUNK fused garage punk groove with action rock antics turning heads and melting faces at every dive bar in Melbourne and on subsequent tours of NSW, Queensland, Tasmania and Adelaide leading to supports for Brant Bjork Trio, Tumbleweed, Magic Dirt and The Peep Tempel.
The band’s debut and sophomore LP’s “SPACEJUNK” and “Bite your Tongue” earned a cult following as one reviewer noted: "SPACEJUNK operate in that hard to pigeonhole musical space that's vaguely described as psychedelic punk rock… it equates to loud, fuzzy guitars, left-field sonic touches and a barely controlled energy…the lairy acid-flecked vocals are the crowning touch…hot-wired rock and roll that's barely anchored to the floor… what's not to love?"
SPACEJUNK’s long awaited highly anticipated third LP “JUNK TIME” recorded and mixed by Max Ducker at Cellar Sessions and mastered by John McBain at JPM Mastering is their strongest effort to date showcasing the foursome’s reverence for rock’n’roll riffage, ballistic beats, earworm hooks and caffeine bender energy.
On tour recently with Sydney heavyweights ASTRODEATH, LOUD online wrote “SPACEJUNK immediately proved themselves to be well worth the hype… smashing the crowd with a wild mixture of punk rock energy, splats of metal riffing, noise, incredibly catchy hooks and display of sheer drumming mastery… by their second song they had gone from unknowns to party favourite.”
