About this Event
Summer Workshop Programme - Mornings for Children and Families
The morning (11am – 1pm) workshops are open to families and children under 14 years accompanied by parents or carers.
A series of classes in partnership with Creative Practitioner, Kate MacKay.
Space for Wellbeing is a collaborative community design project, led by a team of neurodivergent artists and designers working in textile, sound, garden design and painting.
We question why are so many public spaces inaccessible to neurodivergent people? We imagine what can be done creatively to make spaces a better sensory environment for everyone. We invite adults and teens to share their experiences and have fun exploring hands on, low cost, creative design solutions to improve their home, work and learning environments.
What can I expect?
Workshops will involve, making, creating, designing and exploring the sensory quality of public spaces. How does our environment make us feel and what can we do creatively to positively enhance the feeling of a space? Led by a neurodivergent visual artist, sound artist, multimedia designer and garden designer we will explore how a space can enhance the wellbeing of all who enter, while removing barriers for those with heightened sensory experience. In the workshops we will make simple furnishings which can be used at home, school, and in the workplace to enhance wellbeing. We will also design and make elements for a public “Space for Wellbeing” art installation which will transform a space at Forres House Community Centre for the upcoming Findhorn Bay Festival (20-29th September 2024).
