🏖️ What will life look like in the Southern Beaches in 2040?The world is facing many issues, from bushfires and pandemics, climate impacts and economic pressures. While the Southern Beaches often feels like a beautiful sanctuary, we know that our strong & connected community is what helps us to grow & thrive through these times.
Last year Okines Community House secured funding from the Foundation for Regional and Rural Renewal to strengthen our ability to face disasters and the possible impacts of climate change. We started in November last year with the Stories of the Southern Beaches event. An evening of storytelling, celebrating and acknowledging our strengths and everything that this community has already overcome and what we can learn from it.
🫵 Now we invite you to join us as we continue this work to strengthen our resilience.
We are keen to get as many local residents together as possible to discuss and dream together about how we could make our community even stronger, more connected and resilient. If you have ideas of things you would like to see happen or enthusiasm for creating a positive action for our community’s future, we would love for you to be involved!
🌏 Saturday April 11th (12pm - 3:30pm) - Dream the Vision
Bring your ideas & join us for lunch as we work together in this fun afternoon workshop where we will be dreaming up a vision for the future. Facilitated by Dan O'Hara & Lissa Villeneuve, this workshop will involve working across different tables, sharing and exploring ideas focusing on connection, security, wellbeing and knowledge.
🌏 Saturday May 2nd (12pm- 3:30pm) - Plan the Action
Join us for the 2nd phase of this workshop series as we transform those ideas into action plans to work together to strengthen our communities resilience. Also, facilitated by Dan O'Hara & Lissa Villeneuve, this follow up workshop will prioritise the ideas generated in the previous workshop and develop plans for working together to make them happen.
We hope that you will be able to attend both events, however if you are only able to attend one workshop, that can be accommodated.
These events are open to all local residents of the Southern Beaches community and are FREE to attend.
Your reservation will include lunch. *Please let us know if you have any dietary requirements when making your reservation.
Bookings are needed for catering purposes.
