Join Southend CineScene for a festive double feature at the Beecroft Art Gallery. The evening begins in the Beecroft Art Gallery screening room with the 1965 classic A Charlie Brown Christmas, directed by Bill Melendez, at 6:00pm. We then continue in the same space with the acclaimed The Holdovers, directed by Alexander Payne, at 6:30pm.
A Charlie Brown Christmas (1965)
Charlie Brown searches for the real meaning of Christmas while everything around him feels commercial and shallow. With help from Linus and a small tree that needs a little love he finds a simple clear truth about the season.
The Holdovers (2023)
Set in the early nineteen seventies the film follows a grumpy boarding school teacher tasked with supervising the students who stay behind during the Christmas break. What starts out bleak slowly becomes a story of unlikely connection among three people who all need it more than they realise.
Settle in enjoy two classics and spend an evening with your local film crowd at the Beecroft Art Gallery. Entry is free and donations are warmly encouraged to help us keep these community screenings going.
