About this Event
Venue: Garden Court, Building 38, Highfield Campus, University of Southampton, SO17 1BJ
The day is for photonics companies/space companies, and the University’s photonics research experts . It is designed to provide an introduction to the Southampton Space Institute and to highlight to industry our Photonics research, the Optoelectronics Research Centre (ORC) and our world famous Cleanroom facilities, including the Cornerstone photonics foundry, where space photonics technologies are manufactured.
The event is free and all refreshments are provided.
In the morning after coffee and networking there will be some swift presentations followed by a tour of facilities.
After a networking lunch there will be an ‘industry meets research’ session, where companies can meet photonics researchers face to face through a ‘speed dating’ activity. The day will round off with a recap on the links that have been made and a summary of potential collaborations we can follow up.
Objectives
- Make broad range of UK space companies aware of the ORC capabilities and the potential for Cornerstone to enable access to its facilities
- Run a 'speed-dating' session involving industry CTOs (or equivalents) and ORC experts to explore potential collaborations including possible funding routes (e.g. UKSA NSIP, ESA discovery, ESA GSTP etc.)
