Just off East Carson Street and across from the Esser Plaza Holiday Tree, Bedford Square has been a community gathering spot in Pittsburgh’s South Side for over a century. Home to the historic South Side Market Building, one of the city’s last 19th-century market houses, the area has long connected neighbors through food, art, and local business.
Today, Bedford Square continues that legacy, surrounded by small businesses like Bloom Cigar Co., Club Cafe, and Opulence Head Spa. On December 6, the square and adjacent street will transform into a vibrant community hub for the South Side Winter Market.
