November is National Adoption Awareness Month. In recognition of National Adoption Awareness Month, Seoul Sisters Boutique will host a screening of Frontline's documentary along with the Associated Press: South Korea's Adoption Reckoning. This documentary was released in September 2024 and focused on examining fraud and abuse allegations in South Korea's historic foreign adoption boom. The film draws on years of reporting, thousands of pages of documents — some of which had never been made public before — and interviews with those who worked in adoption agencies, officials from South Korea and abroad, and more than 80 adoptees who gave powerful firsthand accounts.
Seoul Sisters will host the screening of the documentary at The Corvallis-Benton County Public Library. After the documentary Kourtni, who is a Korean adoptee and the owner of Seoul Sisters Boutique will facilitate an adoption panel of 3 transracial adoptees.
The doors will open at 1 PM.
Food will be served starting at 1 PM.
The documentary will begin at 1:30 PM (approx. 1.5 hours)
The adoption panel will follow the documentary.
Depart the library by 5 PM.
This is a FREE event. However, we ask for an RSVP due to limited seating. We also need to know how much yummy Korean food to prepare! Please RSVP to Kourtni at [email protected]
Thank you.
