About this Event
Join us for a relaxed and flavour-packed three-hour South Indian cookery workshop on a Saturday afternoon.
South Indian cooking is celebrated for its bold yet balanced flavours, built around fragrant spices, fresh vegetables, lentils, rice, and comforting breads. From warming dals to vibrant vegetable dishes, the cuisine embraces simplicity, nourishment, and depth of flavour.
In this hands-on workshop, we’ll cook together to prepare a generous South Indian meal using everyday ingredients and traditional techniques that are easy to recreate at home. You’ll learn essential skills such as tempering spices, balancing heat and seasoning, working with lentils and seasonal vegetables, and preparing rice and accompaniments that bring the meal together.
Example Menu
- Matar Paneer – paneer and green peas in a gently spiced tomato gravy
- Vegetable Poriyal – South Indian–style stir-fried vegetables with coconut
- South Indian Dal – a comforting lentil dish with tempered spices
- Steamed Rice – perfectly cooked to accompany the meal
- Fresh Chutney – a classic South Indian accompaniment
- Phulka – soft, wholewheat flatbreads
- South Indian Sweet – a simple, satisfying dessert to finish
The menu may vary slightly depending on ingredient availability and the dietary requirements of the group.
