About this Event

South Chicago Neighborhood Network (SCNN) is one of ten Neighborhood Networks of United Way of Metro Chicago. Claretian Associates is the lead organization for SCNN, which uses a collective impact model and is composed of approximately fifteen community stakeholders including residents, non-profit organizations, law enforcement, and faith-based and education institutes. These stakeholders come together to work on the common agenda of a healthy, safe, and trauma-informed neighborhood.

The Network’s vision is to reinvent South Chicago to become a community of choice by creating a safe, healthy, strong community where neighbors know one another and have a shared commitment to the future. SCNN aims to do this by promoting mental health and trauma-informed care through advocacy, education, and self-sufficiency. SCNN has a common agenda to create a trauma-informed community to advance wellness, including physical and mental health, to improve quality of life.

Programs and services offered by SCNN include adult mental health first aid training, a trauma-informed symposium, Chat and Chews, virtual or in-person lunchtime learning sessions, Community Cafés, community conversations to develop action plans on specific subjects and connect the community to resources, parent and grief support groups, UNITY Squad fall and summer institute, H.Y.P.E. (Helping Young People Excel) support groups, group counseling sessions to identify behavioral, truancy, and other support needs, a health and wellness fair and trauma-informed care and support.
