Filmed in 7 communities (including Charleston, SC) around the US between March 2024 and November 2024, a group of interested creatives from all sides of the aisle decided to partner up and get curious about what real people were doing in real time to get involved in their communities, especially as it revolved around civic participation.

Citizens Revival is an educational, awareness film first and foremost that lives in community. Much like democracy itself, it is driven by the people: every participant, educator, public servant, and audience member who engages with it. It doesn't project. It just witnesses, without creating conflict. It asks us not for results, but shows where windows of opportunities arise for each of us to be more engaged. This is a film that is accessible to all ages and levels of understanding. It gives the opportunities for parents & grandparents to engage with their kids, allows the children to ask the hard WHY questions, and figure out how we can foster a better education system as it pertains to democracy, and how it works before it's too late.

The film explores the state of our democracy, largely from the perspective of young people with a focus on education. It’s full of hope, joy, and energy, but also the challenges and obstacles to meaningful participation in our system.

A very special thanks to Be The Ones and Meet Us on the Frontlines for co-producing one of our 2024 SC live installations.

Many familiar and amazing creatives, friends, and colleagues are featured including: Kate & Noah Counts, Rebecca Lawson, Shelli Quenga, Rita Adkins, Cristen Norman, Cate Mayer, Andrew Boucher, Madison Price and many other Charlestonians.

And many praises to our SC crew: Director of Photography Peter Leininger, Camera Operators Sequoya Yardley & Ellie Payne, Live Sound Mixer Keanan Nelson, PAs Mark Payne, PR support Philicia Baugh, and Office Production Coordinator AJ Haynes.
