About this Event
Step behind the scenes of South Carolina agriculture and experience a day you won’t forget on May 14th. We’re heading into the heart of the Olde English District for an exclusive tour across York and Chester counties—featuring three unique farms, each with its own story, mission, and flavor.
Our journey begins at the Catawba Nation, where you’ll visit Black Snake Farm and Market. More than just a farm, this 22-acre space is a powerful community effort rooted in culture and resilience. You’ll hear firsthand how it was launched during the pandemic to help feed Catawba families—and see its thriving chickens, honeybees, and produce fields in action. https://catawba.com/black-snake-farm
After eating lunch catered by Sully's Steamers at the Catawba Cultural Center, we'll travel south to Chester to explore Wild Hope Farm, a USDA Certified Organic operation that goes even further with “beyond organic” practices. Discover how they’re restoring the land, growing vibrant flowers and produce, and building a more sustainable food system for their community. https://www.wildhopefarm.com/
We’ll wrap up the day at Cotton Hills Farm in Lowrys, where six generations of the Wilson family have been farming since 1882. This stop blends tradition with modern agritourism—featuring fresh produce, lively markets, and seasonal u-pick experiences that bring people closer to the land. https://www.cottonhillsfarm.com/
Whether you’re passionate about farming, sustainability, or just looking for a meaningful day out, this tour offers a rare chance to connect with the people and places shaping local agriculture.
