About this Event
South Carolina 4-H Legislative Day is an engaging event designed for 4-H members, volunteers, and supporters to connect with state legislators and advocate for the 4-H program. Scheduled for March 11, 2025, at the South Carolina State House in Columbia, this event offers participants a platform to share their personal experiences and the positive impact of 4-H programming in their communities. This event not only fosters leadership skills among youth but also emphasizes the importance of civic involvement in shaping community programs.
During 4-H Legislative Day, attendees will have the opportunity to meet with their local representatives, discuss the benefits of the 4-H program, and learn about civic engagement.
The day's activities will include a brief ceremony on the North Steps at 11:00 AM (please be in place by 10:45 AM) and observing legislative processes in action.
Youth and Adults (volunteers, parents, chaperones, etc.) should register by March 7th.
Greenville County Delegation logistics:
- Dress in your best professsional outfit - if possible, wear GREEN! Be sure to wear comfortable shoes.
- Spartanburg, Cherokee, Union, Laurens, and Greenville counties will have the special opportunity to meet with our legislators as a group in the Blatt Building (1105 Pendleton St, Columbia). Please meet at the front doors of the Blatt Building at 9:20am.
- For lunch, Greenville County will have the patio reserved at Grill Marks on Gervais St. This is a 5-10 minute walk down the street from the State House. Or your family can bring your lunch to have a picnic on the State House grounds. There are also several other restaurants within walking distance.
- After lunch we will plan to sit in the House and Senate sessions long enough to observe the lawmaking process and to be recognized by our local Senators and Representatives.

Membership requirement: Current 4-H membership is not required for particiaption in this event, but you must preregister.
Custodial Care: Please note that this event and its coordinators do not assume custodial care of youth in attendance. Adults (parents, guardians, volunteers, coaches, or chaperones) must be present for the supervision of youth participants.
