This workshop is all about sourdough starter care - how to keep it alive, healthy, and ready to bake. Perfect for beginners who want to get started with sourdough, workshop grads who need troubleshooting support, or anyone struggling with their current starter.What Will Be Covered:
What a starter is and how it works - the basics of wild yeast and fermentation.
Feeding schedules and ratios - the daily maintenance vs fridge storage, different feeding ratios for different schedules
Live feeding demo - The instructor will feed a starter in front of the class and explain each step
Troubleshooting common problems - hooch, slow starters, weird smells, mold vs normal, how to revive a sluggish starter
What to do with discard - storage tips and easy recipe ideas so nothing goes to waste.
Dehydrating starter - how to create a backup for long-term storage
Q&A throughout - plenty of time for questions specific to individual situations
Everyone samples fresh sourdough bread and takes home comprehensive guides (starter care, bread recipe, reference sheet with resources) plus access to our Facebook group for ongoing support.
Optional add-on at registration: Dehydrated starter for students who need one to get started. Instructions will be covered how to activate it.

This class will focus on starter care and maintenance - NOT solely bread-making. Students who want to learn to bake bread would still take our hands-on Sourdough 101 workshop when they are ready. This is a different offering than complements (not competes with_ our bread workshops.
Note: There are no refunds or date transfers on workshops.
Workshop Attendance Policy
Due to limited space and materials, every attendee must have a paid spot. This workshop is for participants 18 and older only.
This is a private, ticketed event. Anyone arriving without a paid spot will be unable to participate and will be asked to leave.
If an unpaid guest accompanies a registered participant and cannot leave the space, the registered participant will need to leave with them. In this case, the workshop fee is non-refundable.
