The J.F. Glidden Homestead & Historical Center will host its next Soup-er Sunday program featuring “Cultivating Community: The Roots of Sweet Life Garden Group,” presented by Sweet Life Garden Group founder Lori Brown.
At 12 pm on Sunday, March 22 at the Glidden Homestead, Brown will introduce attendees to the mission and story behind Sweet Life Garden Group, sharing how the organization began and why its work matters to the community. The program will include a history of the volunteer-led initiative and a visual virtual tour of the growing network of gardens throughout DeKalb County that produce fresh food for local food pantries and partner organizations.
Sweet Life Garden Group is a 100% volunteer-led and operated local nonprofit focused on providing hyperlocal, organically grown produce—including vegetables, herbs, flowers, and fruits—to food pantries and collaborating organizations. Beyond fresh food, the group cultivates something equally meaningful: friendship, fellowship, and fun. The presentation will also highlight how these gardens contribute to expanding and strengthening DeKalb and Sycamore’s green infrastructure.
Soup-er Sunday programs support the J.F. Glidden Homestead & Historical Center, a DeKalb nonprofit dedicated to preserving the historic Glidden home and barn, both listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
Admission is $5 per person and free for Glidden Homestead members. Admission includes the lecture, a bowl of soup, and guided tours of the historic homestead. The program will take place in the museum’s Welcome Center at 921 W. Lincoln Highway, DeKalb.
