Grab your lawn chairs, kick off your shoes, and dance by the York River during Yorktown’s Sounds of Summer Concert Series! BJ Griffin is a versatile Virginia Beach-based singer and electric cellist known for blending pop, soul, and funk while performing, often compared to a "young Stevie Wonder." He gained national attention as a contestant on Season 18 of America's Got Talent (2023). Griffin fronts the band BJ Griffin and the Galaxy Groove, having opened for artists like Lionel Richie and Lauryn Hill. Each Thursday evening brings a different beat—country, beach, jazz, R&B, and more—along with delicious food trucks and cool coastal breezes. Come early to grab dinner or dessert from one of our waterfront favorites like Water Street Grille, Carrot Tree, or Ben & Jerry’s. Then, settle in for a night of great music, good friends, and summer memories made under the stars.
Guests are permitted to bring their own blankets, chairs, and small coolers. No tables, umbrellas, or tents are allowed. There will be a dance floor, friendly games of corn hole, and tasty, to-go meals from rotating food trucks available for purchase.
Free parking is available at designated public parking lots throughout town, including York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, and County Administration Building.
The complimentary, ADA-accessible Yorktown Trolley runs from 5 to 9:30 p.m. during every concert with a modified route that still includes some of the stops on the outskirts of town.
