From classical court-inspired pieces to innovative modern arrangements, this performance offers a journey into the elegance, subtlety, and emotional depth of Japanese musical tradition, brought to life by some of Japan’s most distinguished performers.
· Koto – A traditional Japanese stringed instrument, typically with 13 strings stretched over movable bridges. It is played by plucking the strings with finger picks, producing a soft, elegant, and melodic sound often used in classical and contemporary Japanese music.
· Hichiriki – A small, double-reed Japanese wind instrument, similar in tone to an oboe but with a distinct, hauntingly rich sound. It is commonly used in Gagaku (ancient Japanese court music) and provides a deep, expressive voice in ensemble performances.
