About this Event
[CELEBRATING PRIDE MONTH]
Join us for an evening of discussion followed by a musical performance with artist Sorrelle McGill also known as x3butterfly, along with writer and music journalist Jenn Pelly. Hailing from Detroit, x3butterfly is a Mexican-American DJ, dancer and producer. While studying at California Institute of the Arts, they began their career in music as an experimental performance artist. Having drawn inspiration from early industrial and techno pioneers, x3butterfly’s sets retain a raw and ominous quality, with a club twist. They have played internationally and are DJing NYC venues such as Basement, Elsewhere, Nowadays, along with their current residency at Paragon. Jenn Pelly is the author of The Raincoats and a longtime contributor to Pitchfork. Her writing on music and culture also appears in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Guardian, NPR, Vulture, and others. She is a co-curator of the Basilica Soundscape festival.
