Sounding the Downs
Interactive Listening Walk - Hollingbury
Join us for a unique summer solstice experience around Hollingbury Hill fort! Our Interactive Listening Walk will take you on a journey immersing you in the sounds of nature.
In this supportive, fun, and grounding workshop, we tune into the changing sounds around us as we explore different places.
An innovative, sensory way for people to engage with natural landscapes. Our participants report improved mental health and wellbeing through being supported in a group to listen, immerse themselves in and play with the places we move through. These listening tools are free, simple and transferable – people who come on our workshops learn a new skill and way of accessing outdoor spaces.
What to expect
We will walking gently with some uphill and uneven terrain. We will be stopping regularly to listen. It will be mild-moderate walking difficulty. Please wear appropriate walking footwear, cover legs and bring water.
No music-making or listening walk experience is necessary, just an openness to take part and try new things. If you have any concerns about listening or walking, please contact us to discuss.
What's the cost?
It's free for any residents in Hollingbury and Hollingdean.
The session is supported by the National Trust and the Changing Chalk Community Grants Scheme, and funded by The National Lottery Heritage Fund, with thanks to National Lottery players.
