What to expect
This workshop will offer you the opportunity to explore the deep meditative states and dream-like spaces which open to us when we are bathed in sound vibrations.
We'll have some uplifting cacao to transition out of our every day lives to keep us alert as we relax into the experience (this is entirely optional and participants can request a herbal infusion instead if required). There will then be prompts/a brief guided meditation to reflect on the energies of the season and how these relate to our lives as they are currently unfolding.
Many people find that being immersed in the soundscapes created by the gongs, singing bowls and other percussive instruments helps to quieten the chatter of the mind so they can achieve deep states of rest. Some find that the brain enters a creative state where they gain new perspectives or find solutions; others find a meditative peacefulness.
Participants usually choose to lie down, but can also remain seated whilst they are bathed in sound vibrations. The space does not contain chairs but please do contact me if you think you may require one so that I can arrange this.
Venue: The venue is accessible and has the option to use a chair in stead of lying on a mat on the floor (or we have had wheelchair users remain in their own chair). General parking is not available at the venue (though please get in touch if you have a blue badge), and booking a spot on justpark is highly recommended if you need to arrive by car, as on street parking in the area can be tricky to guarantee.
What to bring:
- Exercise/ camping mat or blanket to lie on.
- Blankets and warm layers as the body cools down quickly when lying in stillness
- A cushion or two for comfort (the studio provides blocks and bolsters)
- Plenty of water to stay hydrated
- An eye pillow or scarf to cover the eyes if this will bring you extra comfort
I provide bolsters (firm cylindrical cushions which can be placed behind the knees to increase comfort when lying), and a blanket for eah person.
Contraindications for Cacao
I advise checking that drinking cacao isn’t contraindicated for any medications you may be taking (most common contraindication is with antidepressants), and remember that if for any reason you want less cacao (or to simply enjoy the sound bath alone), this is very welcome, too! For those who are unable to have the cacao, a rosehip tea (a herbal infusion also associated with the heart), can be substituted as long as I have some advance warning!
Supporter & Financial Assistance places.
The 'supporter' admission rate is for those who can afford to pay a little more, in order to help cover places for those not able to pay the full price.
Anyone who is experiencing financial hardship, and cannot afford the full price without foregoing daily essentials, is invited to get in touch with me regarding attendance at a rate they can afford.
Cancellation policy
I am unable to offer refunds or exchanges except by discretion, in exceptional circumstances. I am happy for anyone who is unable to attend to pass their place on to someone else.
If I have to cancel the event or reschedule, all participants will be refunded or offered a place at a future workshop.
