Date – Monday, 11th May to Friday, 15th May
Venue – Little Theatre
Time – 12.00 noon to 1.00 pm
Duration – 5 days – 1 hour each day
Led by musicians of the Symphony Orchestra of India, this workshop blends musical learning with interactive fun, exploration of various instruments, teamwork and exciting games.
Children will learn the basics of staff notation, compose their own music, and even conduct and perform.
By connecting classical music with what they hear today, we help them build a deeper musical awareness developing their ear, imagination and confidence while having a great time.
What your child will learn:
· Introduction to all sections of the orchestra strings, woodwinds, brass and percussion and hands-on opportunity to try out instruments
· Basics of music theory, staff notation, introduction to music history and connecting classical foundations to modern music
· Understanding, practising and learning to conduct basic time signatures (2/4, 3/4, 4/4)
· Development of rhythm, pulse and pitch awareness through an active listening ear
Special Finale Day:
• Each team presents a short original composition created using the theory taught during the week
• SOI instructors perform the children’s compositions live, adding improvisations to bring their ideas to life
