More information:
This heart-connected, multi-instrument sound journey is led by certified sound bath practitioner Jill Courtney. After sitting to center and breathe together, you will be invited to lay back and allow the healing sounds to nourish, relax, and balance your body, mind, and soul. Bring your yoga mat, some water, and wear clothes that will allow you to relax comfortably. Bolsters and blankets are provided for your comfort.
Sound healing is an ancient practice that uses vibrations, such as music, vocal tones, and instruments, to improve physical and emotional well-being. At its core, sound healing works on the principle that everything in the universe is in a state of vibration, including every organ, bone, and tissue in the body. When our bodies fall out of harmony, whether due to stress, illness, or other factors, sound healing seeks to recalibrate these vibrations and restore balance.
Whether you’re new to sound healing or looking to deepen your practice, this sound bath session will offer a nurturing space for you to Relax Your Body, Harmonize Your Mind, and Nourish Your Soul.
PRESENTED BY:
Jill Green Courtney is a Certified Sound Bath Practitioner from the Sound Healing Academy (Level 1 Foundations and Level 2 Diploma in Multi-Instrument for Working with Groups). She has a Bachelor of Music Education from the IU School of Music, a Master of Science in Education from IU, and nearly three decades of public school music teaching & group music teaching experience.
Since she was a preschooler, singing and dancing and piano playing were constants in her life. She performed on stages, sang in choirs, became a serious pianist, and generally enjoyed everything about music. In her early teen years, she learned somewhere that everything in the universe is vibrational energy, and this really resonated with her. To her core, she knows it to be true, and that’s why she has been so drawn to musical experiences, and to sharing music with others.Teaching music was a natural fit, and that has given her the privilege of leading group-music making activities to thousands of people, from babies to adults, for decades.
Along the way, she has been a student of mind-body wellness practices, especially yoga, and it is in the yoga room that she had some profound experiences with sound healing instruments and sound journeys. And so the calling came for her to “Keep on Growing” (her life motto) and dive deep into the world of sound healing, leading to her life-changing training through the Sound Healing Academy to lead multi-instrument sound baths and sound healing experiences for groups. It is a perfect blend of her life experiences and interests, and she feels she is only at the beginning of this journey. She is experiencing music and sound in a whole new way, and learning to trust the music that flows through her as she is called to share it with others.
Jill is a nearly life-long resident of Bloomington, and is deeply grateful to her music and yoga teachers, who have contributed to her growth as a teacher and a human. Besides music and yoga, her biggest loves and joys are her husband and two children, trees, birdsong, and dark chocolate.
