Welcome! This bootcamp for the soul came about from our own need: an affordable, high quality recalibration in flourishing nature; where we could reset our inner compass without the distractions of daily life; and enhance our energy and agency so that our capacity to navigate this great planetary transition is more intentional and form relationships with others on this journey - a community of practice. A gift to ourselves and so too a gift to the world. This soulcamp is not for everyone. Think of it more for travellers instead of tourists. You would have already started your journey within and you would be of reasonably good health/fitness.HOGSBACK
This special place is found in the heart of nature and is Ancient Ancestral Land – all part of the Oldest Indigenous Forest in the country. The area vibrates with the essence of Nature’s medicine. This is where your heart remembers its natural beat and one’s nervous system settles to a calmer rhythm. Nature holds the powerful love frequency of the Universal heartbeat reminding us where our natural rhythm (and default setting) can always be found.
It is claimed that J.R.R. Tolkien's inspiration for the writing of Lord of the Rings came from this area via his son’s Christopher’s letters. Nelson Mandela was born nearby too.
We are roughly 2 hours from East London Airport, and 3 ½ hours from Port Elizabeth Airport. Transfers from these airports can be arranged at an additional cost. Consider coming a few days early to see the village and surrounding areas. Our itinerary is full and you won’t find time to do much exploring of the tourist spots during soulcamp.
VENUE
Neshama (Hebrew for soul) is a rustic homestead set right alongside an indigenous forest at the feet of Tor Doone, a small mountain on the south side of the village. The homestead offers simple single bed shared rooms, shared shower and toilets and a basic kitchenette. The garden is majestic with bursts of color through spring and summer, and the powerful presence of magnificent old trees. A 5min walk to a waterfall through indigenous forest offers a refreshing morning shower.
SOUL CAMP
Gift yourself a facilitated journey of restoration, rejuvenation & awakening. A facilitated camp to ignite and sustain our shared active hope for a bright future. Gain tools to establish the harmony within, with each other and with nature. Start 2025 fully charged.
This is the space where a facilitated nature immersion and embodiment is experienced. It is from this healed space, that alignment and reconnection to self at a soul level unfolds.
We welcome you and share our unique “home vibe” with awakening fellow travelers in the Heart of Nature. This is where you slow down, pause, rest, reset, recharge, recalibrate and reconnect with yourself. From this quieter and grounded space, the creative aspect of yourself, gets to come out and play – it is this awareness that you take home with you to cultivate the soil of yourself. We’re creating a space where you immerse into the harmonic frequency of nature and harmonize yourself on all levels, while being supported and guided with experienced trauma-informed facilitators. All devices to be switched off at the start of the retreat. We open up a 30 min window for you to check-in with loved ones.
MEALS
Fully catered. Should you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know. This is a sober experience so you will find plenty of fresh mountain water and herbal teas available. Our food leans to enlivening, vegetarian, fresh, local and organic. We include local raw milk, cheese, and yoghurt, so please let us know if you’re plant based.
ACCOMODATION
We offer shared accommodation (2 per room) in a clean & tidy farmhouse space. Accommodation is intentionally humble yet comfortable. We want to keep this price accessible for many and also make the experience more authentic. Both accommodation homesteads on the same lane in walking distance from each other, while one of them also hosts the practice venue.
WHAT TO BRING
Hogsback is known for “4 seasons in one day” so it is recommended to pack accordingly. The weekend is very casual, so comfortable ‘layers’ are suggested. Bring with you comfortable walking shoes, a warm jacket, swimming costume and towel, a water bottle, journal and pen, a hat, comfortable clothing for morning and evening practices. If you are a bird lover, pack a pair of binoculars. All meals are catered for, but if you would like to bring some extra snacks, you are most welcome to.
