About this Event
Soul Photography invites participants to explore photography as a practice of presence, perception, and self-expression.
Offered in separate teen and adult cohorts, these six workshops focus on noticing the world — and ourselves — with curiosity and compassion.
Using simple techniques with everyday devices such as phones or basic cameras, participants learn to see beyond the surface and discover depth, light, story, and meaning in ordinary moments.
No photography experience is required — just a willingness to slow down and look with fresh eyes.
Photography becomes not just a skill, but a practice of attention and reflection.
The Six Soul Photography WorkshopsEach week explores a different aspect of seeing.
Soul Seeing
Photography begins with attention.
This week focuses on slowing down and noticing light, color, texture, and shape. Before capturing an image, we practice simply seeing — discovering how awareness itself is creative.
Soul Depth
Images hold layers of meaning.
Participants explore foreground, background, visual flow, and how the eye moves through a photo to create curiosity, emotion, and story.
Soul Light
Light shapes mood and meaning.
Through exploring shadow, reflection, contrast, and tone, participants discover how light transforms ordinary moments into expressive images.
Soul Story
A single image can speak, but a sequence can tell a story.
Participants experiment with creating simple visual narratives that reveal everyday moments and meaningful connections.
Soul Self
Photography can also be a mirror.
This week invites participants to explore self-portraiture with curiosity and compassion, shifting from self-criticism toward presence, character, and authenticity.
Soul Presence
In our final week, we reflect and integrate what we have discovered.
Participants share favorite images from the journey and explore how photography can become an ongoing practice of attention, wonder, and presence.
