15 August, 2025 LIVE in Timisoara on the terrace at Under the Bridge:Sotavento Big Band (SBB) is a Jazz&Tango orchestra formed in Buenos Aires 21 years ago that recreates the golden age of Argentine Swing and Tango, in a musical project that amalgamates the melodic and rhythmic patterns of tango with the harmony and improvisation of jazz.

The orchestra's repertoire explores from this vision, from traditional tango to the music of Astor Piazzola in Big Band format.Sotavento Big Band has performed on numerous Argentine and international stages.
The orchestra has played at Notorious, Jazz Voyeur, ND Teatro, El Cubo and La trastienda Club, among others. It has been present at 15 editions of the Jazz en la Playa Festival, 6 editions of the Jazz en el Subte Festival and the Buenos Aires International Jazz Festival 2018. It currently performs regularly at Bebop Club and Las Cortaderas Jazz.
In 2015 the band went on their first European tour, including Switzerland, France, Italy and Serbia, performing on the main stage of the Nisville International Jazz Festival in Serbia. In July 2017 the band went on their 2nd European tour, spanning 10 countries in Western and Eastern Europe, performing at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and 17 other venues in France, the UK, Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Hungary, including The Globe Jazz Club in Newcastle upon Tyne, the Saltburn Theatre in the North of England and the Melville Theatre in Avergavenny, Wales. The 1019 Jazz Club in Vienna, Le Caravage in Loches, France and the sold out BFlat Jazz ClLub in Berlin. In Eastern Europe the band performed at the Pjetka Music Club in Ostrava, Czech Republic and at the Pegazus Jazz Club in Zsembenkallia, Hungary.
Sotavento Big Band performed in Italy on the open-air stage of the “Piazza Via Antica” in Osimo and also participated in the “Girogustando” festival in Catelfidardo and the “Via Roma Summer Festival” in Recanati. In Switzerland, outside Montreux, the ensemble performed four other concerts in Villeneuve, Lutry, Villars and Vevey.
In July 2019 the orchestra went on its 3rd European tour performing more than 20 concerts at Jazz Festivals and clubs in France, the United Kingdom, Belgium, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Bulgaria, Hungary and Serbia.
SBB is currently preparing its new repertoire for the 2025 European tour.
