Two one-act plays speak on two points on the Autism Spectrum, from verbal to non-verbal, to open awareness and understanding thru Theater!
About this Event

“Great theatre should make the audience feel uncomfortable and confront difficult questions, before leaving them with a gut-punching message. Matteo Esposito’s powerful play Sorting It Out does all of that in the span of thirty minutes.”

~Ghost Light Review, Toronto Canada

Play Readings with Friends is producing the U.S. Premiere of Canadian Playwright, Matteo Esposito's "Sorting It Out" in the Theater District of Manhattan this August at New Circle Theatre Company’s Sandbox Theater. This deeply moving play is directed by our Artistic Director, Jon L Peacock, with a wonderful cast, and all are excited to bring this story to life here in NYC:

And we are teaming up with Amanda Ladd and her solo show which looks at the non-verbal end of the Autism Spectrum. THE AZURE SKY IN OZ: Act I, YELLOW, written by William Leavengood, stars Amanda Ladd, as the mother of a non-verbal Autistic son. She explores how it is being the parent of a high-needs child, the daily struggles and the stigmas she must face to give her son all the education he deserves, to give him a chance beyond his label, and to push beyond the barriers that label forces upon him even while in grade school.

Join us as we look across the Spectrum. We will have talkbacks after each performance, and will have additional information on Autism from local Advocacy not-for-profit organizations.
