Sophie Hiroko is a singer/songwriter hailing from Duluth, MN, and a daughter of Lake Superior. She describes the genre of music she creates as tender bubble grunge which aims to describe the marriage of her soft vocals alongside a grungy guitar accompaniment. Drawing inspiration from themes of death, rebirth, social justice, and girlhood, she just released her debut EP, to the core following her win of the grand prize for the nationally renowned bluegrass band Trampled by Turtles 2025 Palomino grant. Her sound can be compared to the Lilith Faire movement of the 90s, merged with the femme grunge movement that took place within the same time period. Fans of The Breeders, The Sundays, Mazzy Star, and Juliana Hatfield will love Sophie Hiroko. Nafan is a local musical artist who takes inspiration from the Cleveland art scene and great rust belt songwriters like Bonnie Prince Billie, Songs: Ohia, and Bob Dylan. Nafans music bounces from genre to genre but lies somewhere in-between folk, punk, and alternative country. The new album A Cowboy Is Dead is a stripped back singer-songwriter album inspired by Townes Van Zandt and David Berman.
