Spend an hour just for you, learning some tools to come out of survival mode and remember how to rest
About this Event

We live in a world where we are constantly going, constantly doing, and demands are only increasing on us. No wonder we're stressed, anxious, burnt out, overwhelmed, depressed, checked out....can't sleep, not eating properly, and just running from one thing to the next unable to relax or rest and find our centre.

Gift yourself an hour just for you to learn some self soothing techniques to reset your nervous system out of fight/flight/freeze and back to balance. Remember how to relax, how to rest, how to let go of the constant gripping and just be you. Combining deeply restful supported postures designed to bring the body to stillness with breathwork, visualisation and some silence, restorative yoga allows your body to remember what it already knows, and allows the mind to calm a little.

Restorative yoga is a yoga using supports to enable your body muscles to let go and not have to hold themselves in postures, allowing the body to relax and rest more deeply and let go of layers of tension deep in your connective tissues. The postures are specifically designed to activate feelings of safety in the body, and support the nervous system through posture, breath, gentle pressure and meditation to down regulate to a more balanced state. To enable the postures to do their deep but gentle work, we are in the postures for longer periods of time than in other forms of yoga, and this is made possible by being held in postures with the support of bolsters, blocks, blankets, cushions, straps, chairs and other objects. These supports allow you to let go of holding yourself in the posture and rest more deeply.

Yoga nidra is the yoga of deep rest and and is a guided reclining or lying down meditation that is body and visualisation based and designed to bring you to a state of deep rest, healing, imagination, creativity, and energy. This will form part of the last restorative posture of the class.

The studio has all the props however if you have a preferred mat, blanket, bolster or other prop please feel free to bring it along with some water and please wear comfy clothing that you can move easily in.
