About this Event

Sonic Alchemy: A Vocal Playshop

Who else feels the weight of this season? Winter can bring a lot of heaviness—stress, loneliness, and a sense of disconnect.

🫀 Our ancestors knew something we’ve forgotten: they used song to process grief, build community, and strengthen bonds. Instead of retreating into isolation, doom-scrolling, or spending hundreds of dollars on therapy, anti-depressants, or quick fixes, they gathered and sang together, finding healing and unity in the process.

Now, it’s our turn to rediscover this ancient wisdom.

Join me at OBJX Studio for an immersive journey into the world of vocal alchemy.
In this playshop, we’ll explore the transformative power of your voice through playful exercises and simple techniques.
You’ll:
🎶 Create harmonies and experiment with vocal textures
🎶 Unlock the magic of vocal improvisation
🎶 Deepen your connection to your voice and creativity

Whether you’re a seasoned vocalist or a complete beginner, this space is for anyone who wants to explore, express, and heal through sound.
I Repeat: YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE A SINGER TO PARTICIPATE!
All levels are welcome, and you won’t be put on the spot.

Some benefits of group singing include:

  1. Reduces Stress Hormones
Singing in a group lowers cortisol levels, helping to decrease stress and anxiety.
  2. Boosts Immune System
Research shows singing increases immunoglobulin A, a key antibody for immune defense.
  3. Enhances Mood Through Neurochemicals
Group singing triggers the release of endorphins and oxytocin, fostering happiness and trust.
  4. Improves Mental Health
Studies indicate group singing can reduce symptoms of depression and anxiety.
  5. Increases Social Bonding
Singing together stimulates the production of oxytocin, enhancing feelings of connection and empathy.
  6. Improves Breathing and Lung Function
Controlled breathing techniques in singing strengthen respiratory muscles and improve lung capacity.
  7. Promotes Cardiovascular Health
Singing regulates breathing patterns, which can lower blood pressure and improve heart rate variability.
  8. Enhances Cognitive Function
Memorizing lyrics and harmonizing stimulates brain activity, boosting memory and focus.
  9. Encourages Neuroplasticity
Singing challenges the brain to process complex auditory, motor, and emotional signals, enhancing adaptability.
  10. Reduces Pain Perception
Group singing activates the brain's reward system, releasing natural pain-relief hormones like dopamine.
  11. Fosters Emotional Regulation
Engaging in music helps process and release emotions, improving psychological resilience.
  12. Improves Sleep Quality
Singing reduces stress and regulates breathing, which can improve sleep patterns over time.
  13. Encourages Mindfulness
The rhythmic, focused nature of singing fosters a meditative state and reduces overthinking.
  14. Boosts Productivity
The mood-enhancing and energizing effects of group singing can translate into improved motivation and efficiency in daily tasks.
  15. Increases Longevity
Studies have linked regular social engagement and stress reduction, both fostered by group singing, to a longer lifespan.
