Some of the greatest music is written in protest, offering courage and hope. Music expresses our deepest thoughts and has the power to change the way
we think and feel. The pieces in this concert put the case for peace, political freedom, compassion for our fellow human beings and the fight against torture.
MacMillan protests about political repression, Joubert the inhumanity of war, and Beamish delves into the complex relationship between hostage and torturer - fear, contempt, and finally something softer and more unifying.
This concert will end at approximately 5.45pm.
