About this Event
The English Chamber Choir is one of the UK’s leading and busiest vocal ensembles. Recent highlights include the Royal Albert Hall, London Palladium (with Rick Wakeman), Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abbey and many concerts at St Martin-in-the-Fields and abroad.
Alongside familiar works by Eric Whitacre and Michael Tippett as well as choral arrangements of the Great American Songbook, this vibrant programme on the 250th Anniversary of American Independence also includes stunning contemporary repertoire by internationally-celebrated living composers exploring the theme of peace, music, nature and flight in settings of American poetry.
ECC is conducted by highly-acclaimed Artistic Director, Rufus Frowde and accompanied by Richard Sisson (formerly of musical comedy duo Kit and The Widow).
The concert includes a première by Asha Parkinson, whose work has been praised for its colour, sophistication, and humanity.“Asha’s work is in tune with the world, which like it, can sometimes be joyful, tormented, poetic.” (Paris Move)
