Sonar Sessions is a monthly Sunday evening event, showcasing artists in the genres of world, jazz, soul, acoustic & folk. Each Sonar Session will present a carefully curated lineup of live acts showcasing established artists alongside emerging local talent.
This special double headline show will feature an hour set from each act...
Eleanor Dunsdon & Gregor Black are a multi-award-winning Glasgow-based harp and percussion duo blending traditional music with jazz, folk, classical, and electronic influences. Graduates of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, they aim to create a sound that challenges perceptions of the harp and pushes the boundaries of the traditional music scene. They were recently chosen as UKHA Emerging Artists and released their debut EP, 'Let No Man' in April 2024, which has been championed on BBC Radio 3, BBC Radio Ulster, BBC Radio Scotland, RTÉ Radio 1 and awarded FATEA Magazine’s ‘EP of the Year 2024’ award.
"A fantastic sound … smashing every stereotype there is” (Lynette Fay, BBC Radio Ulster)
“Stunning” (BBC Radio Scotland)
“This is traditional folk with a soft jazz twist and it’s gorgeous.” (John Reed, The Compendium)
Johnny Campbell emerged onto the UK folk scene writing self-penned material and delving deep into Northern English folk song and story. In 2024 Campbell released 'True North', an album of Northern English traditional songs recorded on their respective county summits, garnering press from Country Walking Magazine, Folk on Foot & BBC Radio 4 Open Country. Richard Thompson declared True North as one of his top five albums of the year in 'My Year in Music' in UNCUT Magazine.
