Oh boy this'll be a fun one. Great to be comin' back to UK and especially the feisty Brighton. Playing at this switched on trailer park party as part of Brighton Fringe Festival!Blues — but not as you know it. The legendary Son of Dave returns to the UK for a rare live performance at The Electro Blues Shack, Caravanserai.
Expect an evening of remixed blues & country where stripped-back tradition meets modern rhythms. From the wilder edges of foot-stomping Americana to gritty electro-blues we’re reviving our infamous club that was a resident at The Green Door Store for many years and launched a compilation album series on Brighton’s own Freshly Squeezed label.
Headlining is Son of Dave, a one-man blues phenomena (Benjamin Darvill, formerly of Crash Test Dummies) whose hugely influential looping harmonica, beatbox grooves, stomping rhythms and growling vocals won cult status from soundtracking Breaking Bad (https://www.instagram.com/reels/DIR1Eiaxn28/) and Preacher (https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=10153776980510981), to appearances on Later… with Jools Holland ().
Support comes from Brighton’s own Country Ties, a four-piece featuring vocal, guitar, double bass and fiddle, who bring their lively blend of country, bluegrass and Americana, full of rich harmonies and barn-dance energy.
Between sets, DJs including Nick Hollywood (Electro Blues/White Mink) and The Chairman spin vinyl blues, roots rarities and vintage cuts.
Live blues, country, Americana and bluestronica — the perfect way to close the Fringe weekend.
