ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS
Somos Tucson is a Spanish-language digital media outlet serving immigrant communities, founded by Liliana López-Ruelas. Liliana spent a decade working in political and business media in Mexico City and spent 12 years as the Arizona Daily Star’s Hispanic Community Engagement Editor and editor of La Estrella de Tucson.
Tucson Love Letter is a community-first publication that helps people explore the magic of Tucson all while supporting local businesses in a hands-on way. While Tucson Love Letter's founder, Gloria Knott, is not Latina, she is a Tucson native who grew up surrounded by Sonoran culture which she has a deep appreciation for. Her goal in journalism especially is to uplift and highlight marginalized communities and she's excited to help plan a fiesta that celebrates the Latino community — and she's so happy it’s happening alongside someone as incredible as Liliana. If profits are made from Somos Puro Love, half of Gloria's share will be donated to South Tucson CO.
