Portland Ovations commissioned somewhere/elsewhere in 2023, a musical by Kerem Durdag (librettist) and Andy Happel (composer) exploring the immigrant experience through love, displacement, and belonging. Unlike traditional Western musicals, the songs - rooted in Turkish, Pakistani, rock, and pop influences - serve as emotional expressions rather than narrative devices, embodying a search for connection and humanity. This concert celebrates songs from the recently released double album, performed by members of the original cast and the rock band Thanks to Gravity.
