Something Like Musical is the ONLY musical finger puppet comedy show in Los Angeles in which Kelsey Harper learns the music to a famous musical, doesn't look up the plot, then performs what she THINKS happens using a dramatic cast of finger puppets.
Something Like... Musical won the Cultural Arts Envoy Award and the Producer's Encore Award at the 2023 Hollywood Fringe. It had a residency at the Jaxx Theater for the 2024 season, and now goes up regularly at The Lyric Hyperion. In addition to it's Los Angeles run, Something Like... Musical played for 4 years at Easy Lover, Brooklyn, and was recently showcased at the Austin Sketch Fest (2025).
Kelsey Harper is a Los Angeles based writer performer, by way of Brooklyn. In addition to Something Like... Musical, Kelsey runs a bi-weekly humor Substack, "I'm Kelsey. Here's Why That's Wrong" (@imkelseyharper). Kelsey wrote, directed and co-produced a multiple-award winning audio series "What Can I Get Started for You" (Lucky Doll Productions), and has co-developed an audio series, "Tubas," with her collaborator Maeve Dunigan and Abominable Productions. Her pilot, "The Mouse," has placed in Slamdance, Screencraft and was one of 3 finalists in BlueCat Screenplay competition. When Kelsey isn't writing, she is co-hosting a bi-monthly comedy show, Phones Down along with other frequent collaborator, Sterling Mulbry.
Kelsey is a professionally trained vocalist (Bachelor's in Voice from The University of Texas Austin), so you can trust her with a musical comedy show. You're safe. Don't worry.
