About this Event
Maan Somali Mental Health Sheffield will be hosting their Annual General Meeting and Conference, Somali Community‑Led Change: For a Healthier Future, on 16th April 2026 between 10.00 am and 2.00 pm. The event will be held at Burngreave Vestry Hall, 2 Burngreave Road, S3 9DD.
A gathering for Somali adults with lived experience, carers, community members, Somali‑led organisations, and supportive partners from health and social care. This is a space to share experiences, build understanding, and shape the planning needed for a healthier future.
Somali people in Sheffield know what helps them stay well and what makes life harder. This AGM puts that lived experience at the heart of future planning. It creates a space where Somali voices lead the conversation, and where health and social care allies listen, learn, and work alongside the community.
The focus is on influencing planning making sure Somali communities guide how priorities are set, how support is designed, and how future work is shaped.
Participants will have the opportunity to gain:
- Insights from Somali adults, carers, and community members about their health and wellbeing experiences.
- Reflections from Maan staff about what they are hearing from service users, family members and carers about mental health provisions
- Opportunities for health and social care providers to build trust, strengthen relationships, and understand community priorities.
- Take part in small group discussions on what a healthier future looks like and how planning can reflect real community needs.
