About this Event
Join SF Slow: SoMa for an evening conversation exploring how the story of a neighborhood is told—and who gets to tell it.
Presented as part of Jane’s Walk weekend, this gathering brings together local voices from across SoMa West—artists, organizers, and community leaders—to reflect on the past, present, and future of the neighborhood.
Through a lightly moderated discussion, we’ll explore questions like:
- What stories are visible in SoMa—and which are harder to see?
- How do culture, development, and community shape the narrative of a place?
- What does it mean to belong to a neighborhood that is constantly changing?
This is not a traditional panel. It’s a conversation—open, thoughtful, and grounded in lived experience.
Part of a weekend experience
This event is the first of two connected experiences:
Saturday — SoMa Salon (Conversation)
A chance to hear directly from the people shaping the neighborhood today.
Sunday — SoMa Sunday Stroll (Walk)
A guided walk through SoMa West, visiting a curated set of spaces and continuing the exploration in the streets.
You’re welcome to attend either event on its own—or both as a deeper, shared experience of place.
What to expect
- A relaxed, informal setting
- Short reflections from each speaker
- Space for curiosity, connection, and conversation
SF Slow is a new series of neighborhood-based experiences that invite participants to slow down, look closer, and experience the city differently.
