Step into our REM sleep study, where you will find yourself waking in our dreams... or perhaps your own. Let yourself be lulled by familiar bedtime poems and enchanted by the curious realm that will have you asking, what if the dreams are the world that's real.
SOM is a multisensory contemporary dance performance that takes its audience into the performers’ dreams through interactive, immersive theater tactics. Upon entrance, the audience will be invited by a Pharmacist to take their “medicine” for the sleep study they are about to begin. Once walking into the performance space, they are entranced in Wild She Dances’ dreamworld.
The work plays on the phenomena of humans having the same thematic dreams, such as falling and waking up just before hitting the ground. This prompts the audience to examine the connection our unconscious minds form with those around us. The evening will also take viewers into less recognizable dreams—dreams that tell the story of an impactful vision near to the performers—yet still find themselves feeling the tether of familiarity and connection.
The dreamworld of SOM includes dance, aerial performance, live musical performance, audience interaction, and takes place in a gallery setting allowing the audience to roam the venue during performance. Comfortable shoes are recommended as seating is limited. Venue is wheelchair accessible.
An Open Bar with free drinks will be included at each show.
