Santa Fe Workshops collection of free online events, Creativity Continues, features a special Saturday morning program with independent filmmaker Courtney Daniels in conversation with screenwriter and photographer Susan Burnstine. They have been friends for 27 years and their upcoming conversation centers on using DSLR or mirrorless digital cameras to become a one-person film studio. With the availability of affordable gear and the accessibility of talent on social media, it's easier than ever to make movies without waiting for permission or financing. Or perhaps you are interested in making other types of film projects such as branding videos, tutorials, music videos, marketing or promotional videos and don’t want to spend thousands on them.
Courtney and Susan share how to decide what your first film should be about, how to write the script, and what to consider when casting your project. They also discuss the simplest ways to record sound, light actors, and edit footage. Through every step in the low- to no-budget indie filmmaking process—from writing, casting, and pre-production, to lighting, directing actors, post-production, and distribution—you learn from their 20-year experience living in LA and being immersed in the film world.
