About this Event
Metamorphosis is a powerful solo exhibition by multimedia artist Aggie Armstrong, reflecting her journey as a Filipino immigrant in Canada and her quest to reconcile her heritage with her sense of belonging. Through vivid, dynamic portraits of veiled women, Armstrong invites viewers to explore themes of memory, identity, and transformation. These striking figures embody both strength and mystery, prompting reflection on how cultural roots shape, define, and challenge personal identity.
The exhibition is on view from  Nov 1st-Dec 13th.
About artist:
Aggie Armstrong is a dynamic multimedia artist whose work explores the layered experiences of female consciousness. Her diverse upbringing continues to inspire the themes she explores, especially in relation to memory, identity, and the female experience.
In her creative practice, she is heavily influenced by her upbringing as a Third Culture Individual— a person who has spent a significant part of their formative years in a culture different from their parents. This cross-cultural experience has greatly shaped her identity and creative voice, which she expresses through bold compositions, vivid colors, and intricate hand-stitched embroidery. Her work is both a personal reflection and an exploration of broader themes like identity, belonging, and the intersectional female experience.
