TEDF is a printmaking artist born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, who now lives in the Bronx, New York. He works in relief printmaking, mixed media, and painting. Having practiced printmaking for ten years, TEDF developed an unorthodox method of implementing its key tenets; carving but not printing.
Enamored with the permanence felt through the weight and volume of a mounted linoleum block, TEDF considers it the final artwork. It provides a more tangible sense of confidence as the block communicates an assurance with every cut, scrape, or break not felt when printing. Musicians and athletes predominantly inspire TEDF.
Moments of spontaneity in the development of melodies and the unpredictable nature of sport capture his attention. He employs this spontaneity in his process by using creative energy as a concept to execute each piece directly, forgoing a sketch/proof of concept stage.
